European Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology 

Peri Lau Gillard holds weekly dermatology clinics from our Bradley Stoke Hospital. She has over 10 years experience in examining and managing canine and feline skin disease. She is available see referrals for a range of dermatological problems including:-

• Allergic skin disease
• Pruritus of unknown origin
• Alopecia of unknown origin
• Otitis externa/media
• Recurrent or unresponsive pyoderma
• Parasitic skin diseases
• Infectious skin diseases
• Auto-immune skin disease
• Claw diseases
• Disorders of keratinisation or pigmentation
 
Peri regularly sees dogs and cats but is also happy to deal with all sorts of other animals including rodents, horses and farm animals. 

Peri graduated in 1996 as a Veterinary Surgeon from the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. She completed her doctor thesis in 1999 whilst working part-time as a locum in small animal practice in Germany and also performing various castration projects abroad. 

She moved to the UK in 2000 and worked at two small animal practices in Nottingham as an assistant, before joining the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket in 2001 as a Scholar in Veterinary Dermatology. She completed the training program in 2004 and was also awarded the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology that year.

In 2005 Peri moved to the South West to start as a Clinical Associate in Veterinary Dermatology at the University of Bristol, Langford. As well as seeing clinical dermatological cases, Peri was also involved in training dermatology residents, final year vet students and lecturing to undergraduate vet nurses. Additionally she enrolled for the alternate route residency programme supervised by the international well-known dermatologist Dr Peter Hill and Miss Susan E Shaw in Langford. This time enabled her to fulfil the requirement to take the examination to become a Diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Dermatology. 
 

Peri's aim is to give excellent patient and client care and to work closely with the referring practice, which includes bespoke treatment programmes and follow up consultations as appropriate to each case. She supplements this with ongoing telephone advice and management for referred cases.
