We are pleased to announce that Vets Kate James and Brian Hildick Smith have completed their fund raising trek of Mount Kilimanjaro - well done to both Brian and Kate on this fantastic acheivement!

At 8.50am on Saturday 4th February Kate, Brian and the other 5 climbers in their group reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The climbers were elated, but mentally and physically exhausted. This was a great achievement in support of two fantastic charities.
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and is notorious for having defeated even the toughest of mountaineers. Brian and Kate's adventure involved a 7 day trek up the 5,895m mountain. The summit is higher than Everest Base Camp so they had to fight altitude sickness and huge fluctuations in temperature along the way.
Kate and Brian’s trip was completely self-funded and all proceeds will be split between their chosen charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and Pet Blood Bank.
Brian was raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of his father who, with the assistance and support of Macmillan nurses, was able to spend his last few days in the comfort of his own home with his family.
Kate was raising money for Pet Blood Bank, a national animal blood bank open to all UK veterinary practitioners allowing vets to provide transfusions during surgery or to treat major traumas and disease. At the Rowe Veterinary Group we have found their services invaluable in treating critically ill patients.
